The Swiss Foundation Public Domain was initiated by Carl Flisch (major donor of records), Christoph Zimmermann, and Philippe Perreaux.
Its goal is to preserve our musical cultural heritage and make it accessible in a digital age.
The foundation owns about 70'000 shellac records. We photograph their labels and digitize the musical tracks. We make the pictures of all labels accessible online. Whenever Swiss copyright permits, we also publish the digitized musical tracks online.
The Swiss Foundation Public Domain is supported by the Wikimedia Foundation. Its music is made available on Wikimedia Commons.
It will take years, until all labels of our records are photographed and all sound tracks are digitized. However, we make the digitized portion of our inventory accessible while we proceed. Please tell us, which tracks you would like to have available first.
